Copied: Zoar School was located about 6 miles northeast of Chesterfield, in the Zoar community. It was built in 1927 to accommodate grades one through eleven, with enough space to consolidate all the small county schools in that area, including Pine Grove, Spencer, Showhill, and several others.
This picture was taken in 1927 when the school was completed. Note the cotton field in the foreground. James W. Jenkins: Zoar school was used to house the students from Chesterfield Colored School after the students attended school at the old County Home for a period of time. |
